This torsion spring with an inside diameter of 2 inches is standard on many residential garage doors. The White paint indicates a wire size of .2187 and we currently sell lengths up to 32".

Inside Diameter - The inside diameter may be embossed on the winding cone. If not, carefully measure the diameter from inside wire to inside wire.
Wire Size - Measure the length of 20 coils in Inches. Divide the length by 20. The result will be your coil size. Double check using the color code chart below.
Example: 5 Inches/20 Coils = .250 Wire Size
Length - With the spring unwound, measure the full length (wire only) from first coil to last coil to the nearest inch.
Torsion springs are the most common counterbalance system and used on the majority of garage door brands.
Most customers purchase the exact replacement springs on their door.
It is best practice to replace both springs if you have two springs. If one spring has broken the other will likely break soon as well.

Confirming Wire Size
It is best practice to verify wire size by first measuring using a wire gauge or counting 20 coils.
Measurue the length of 20 coils in Inches. Divide the length by 20. The result will be your coil size. Double check using the color code chart provided.
