You can find most of the TorqueMaster ordering information you need labeled on your garage door spring tube. Most doors have this information located on the LEFT SIDE of the spring tube. The word weight has two common abbreviations: Wt. and Wgt.
We have simplified the ordering process to ensure a smooth experience for our customers. We understand the urgency and frustrations that come with a broken garage door. If you have any doubts, comments, or any questions locating ordering information, please reach out using the chat feature below or by emailing us using the Contact Us page.
It is recommended that you replace all springs. Residential springs have a life expectancy of 10,000 cycles. Depending on use, this is an average of 6-7 years. If one spring has failed, it is likely the paired spring will soon fail as well.

Wayne Dalton officially discontinued the TorqueMaster Original in 2025. While these parts are becoming increasingly rare, we still have most Original Style Springs in stock and ready to ship. If you prefer to upgrade to the current standard, check out our TorqueMaster Plus Conversion Kits.
Wayne Dalton TorqueMaster Original Replacement Spring | TM/TM1
When replacing TorqueMaster Springs it is necessary to identify if the door utilizes the original TorqueMaster One, or the newer TorqueMaster Plus spring system.
The easiest way to distinguish these is by visually inspecting the end brackets. ToqueMaster One has a counter and winding fitting to the end, while TorqueMaster Plus has the anti-drop pawl and rachet gear inside the end bracket. You can also determine each type of spring system by looking at the winding shaft on the end of the springs.
The counterbalance weight (e.g. Wt. or Wgt.) on the sticker is the most important when determining the correct spring needed.
The spring's job is to store the mechanical energy from the weight of the door. When this is done correctly the Opener | Operator has to do minimal work. It is best practice to choose springs within 10 pounds of the garage door weight as outside that will cause the motor to work harder than needed to open/close the garage door.
These labels/stickers are located on the shaft that the springs are inside. Labels are often Yellow, Blue, or White and may have a slightly different layout than what is seen below.
Door Weight
WT or BAL WT refers to the garage door weight. Oftentimes, you may see that this says 0. You can use the specific spring information or the part number to search for each spring.
Left-Hand Spring Info
0.133X40.23 LH is part number 314970 (not shown) and is the Left-Hand spring information.
Right-Hand Spring Info
TM3 or TorqueMaster PLUS
0.137X42.85 RH is Part Number 314973 and is the Right-Hand Spring information.
Part Number
Wayne Dalton only includes the 6-digit part number for the right-hand spring. The left-hand spring info is generally on the top right of the same label. Here you have 0.133X40.23 LH (314970 - Not Shown) 0.137X42.85 RH (314973 - Shown Here)
Shaft Installation Side
This does not refer to any of the spring information. If you have a double spring system, both spring info will be displayed on this label on the lines above.
This is strictly for the original installation, referring to which side of the shaft this is installed on.

Use a better shipper. USPS suck. The package arrived in the shape of a hockey stick. Packaging was well marked Fragile do not bend. I refused to except it.
Store owner replied:
Hi Carl,
We're sorry your spring showed up bent. That's not the experience we want for anyone, and we appreciate you letting us know.
Springs with the internal rod normally ship UPS, which doesn't deliver to PO boxes, so we'll confirm a street address with you to ship it that way. Someone from our team will reach out directly so it arrives in good shape this time.
If you have any questions in the meantime, you can reach us at support@door-parts.com or 855-797-1793.
Everything went well. Customer service exceeded my expectations.
Appreciated the confirmation communication from the company making sure the spring was what I needed. Thanks for keeping older products in stock! It would be nice if you could commission new parts for the old designs to allow people to continue to maintain older doors.
Tyler was a pleasure to work with and quickly answered my questions when I ran into doubts about product compatibility. I was glad to hear from him and his knowledge helped me quickly resolve my issue! 10/10 would buy again!
Best customer service from anyone I’ve had in a long time. I called to ask what springs I needed for my application. No one answered, my assumption was I called during lunch maybe. I didn’t bother leaving a message and went ahead and ordered what I thought I needed. About fifteen minutes later I receive a call from you guys. I was able to ask many questions, confirm the springs I ordered were correct, and add on the 400-HD lubricant to my order. The person I spoke to was very polite, knowledgeable, and wasn’t trying to be a salesman; he genuinely wanted to assist in getting me what I needed to get my garage door working again and provide some education as well. I also used your video to make the spring replacement a breeze.
The website is good. Could use a little more disclaimer on what directions the customer took to verify their decision in selecting the springs.
I do realize most folks aren’t technical. However, you dont want to scrutinize your technical customers with back n forth emails when they knew what they selected. Plus it will help the fulfillment team with efficiency improvements. Less time at the desk with e-mails, more time filling orders, organization, & etc.
Maybe another idea. Send an e-mail to the buyer, on how they came to their spring rate conclusion. If they are concerns. I do appreciate Tyler taking the time with the emails, confirming my selection.
Perhaps they’re some efficiencies to look into, to help all out?
Thanks.
I'm very grateful and thank you.To you for your help in every way, everything worked very well and I've got it repaired with the new springs. If I need anything in the future I know I can get in touch with you and you will help me even though I live in England. Thank you once again. Stephen.
Great experience. Good website. Was able to quickly select the spring size based on garage door weight, and original spring type. Had follow up based on my selection, but all was good. Good delivery service. Very happy customer.
Store owner replied:
Hi John,
I checked the tracking and this package looks to have been stalled for about a week, which isn't normal.
If the carrier can't locate this spring quickly we'll get a replacement spring out to you rather than making you wait on their investigation. I'll follow up by email as soon as I hear back.
Thanks for your patience, and we apologize for the delay on getting your garage door back up and running as quickly as possible.
Part arrived quickly and was just what I needed to repair my garage door. I had a question about the spring because it looked a little different than the original and sent a text. Tyler got back to me quickly with the answer and he was spot on. Great customer service.
I have 3 older Wayne Dolton doors i purchased in 2000 when I built my house. The torque master springs do not last long. It is nice that I can still purchase just the TM/TM1 springs after they fail.
Thanks

Knowing nothing about garage doors, it was easy to find and order the parts I needed. Saved me thousands after a local company quoted a complete replacement system. Customer service reached out after I ordered to triple check whether I ordered the right part for my situation. I highly recommend ordering from door-parts!
It was so easy to find exactly what we wanted and Tyler even reached out via phone and email to confirm we were getting exactly what we needed to complete our job. The part arrived very timely and we were able to help our customer get their door working again in no time. A very easy experience, from finding the product, to ordering and to getting our item shipped. Will be using Door-Parts.com again, for sure!
Door springs were exactly what I needed for the repairs of my garage door. Web site was easy to use. They even double checked with me to ensure that I received the correct door springs. Also the door springs came with replacement instructions which was very handy!!
Even though the correct spring was chosen, Tyler reached out to be sure. He noticed it wasn't a common part so he wanted to verify so I got the right part the first time!
Spring arrived in great condition and the support I received from Tyler was fast, informative, and friendly. The spring works great and was very easy to install.
Actually, the pricing was good. Me having to pay restocking fees for a condition that was legitimate and purchase another product from you for the legitimate replacement is lame. Other than that the customer service was good.
I appreciated the email checking to see i I ordered the right spring since I ordered the original style. I got the right one and put my G door back in service.
